Fall 2018 Trip - On the Road #1

Saturday night, Clay and I changed our plans because rainy/windy weather was predicted for Monday.   We decided to head towards the Blue Ridge Mountains a day early, leaving on Sunday instead of Monday trying to stay ahead of the front pushing through.  Driving and riding in rainy  weather is not fun, especially hooking up a camper in the pouring down rain.  We were behind schedule on our packing so we stayed up until midnight, woke up next day, finished our packing, hooked up our rig and headed down the road.  We were off to a late start, but we don't mind!

We headed east down I-10 to 12 then turned NE to I-59.  When we were almost to Laurel, Mississippi Clay said, “Okay, time to stop soon.”  I found a campground in Waynesboro, MS (Maynor Creek Water Park) which is about 25 miles from the interstate and well worth the drive.  I called and they had spots available…eazy peazy!  The Park Staff Employees, Lindsey and Patty, were super friendly and very eager to help us.  They hooked us up in a shaded and secluded spot (#37) right on the lake.  We had wonderful views of the lake from every window.  The sunset was absolutely divine!

This is a reservoir and a water hot spot, great for boating, swimming and fishing.  They have 2 beaches, nature trails, cabins, boat rentals, etc.  We paid $22 for the night with full hookups.

Woke up early this morning had coffee and watched the awesome sunrise!  There were an abundance of squirrels on the grounds running about doing what squirrels do,  meanwhile Lucy was losing it.  While sitting by my window, I was grateful to watch Egrets fishing on the water's edge and flying about, geese hanging out on the beach area, and an eagle also made an appearance flying overhead.  There were a couple of fishermen on the lake enjoying the sunrise too.

We're packed up and off again, heading NE!
